Garage Dads LLC · Last updated: 2026-06-22

This Policy is part of, and should be read alongside, our Terms of Service.

Garage Dads LLC ("Garage Dads", "we", "us", or "our") is built privacy-first. We collect the minimum needed to connect neighbors for real help, we never sell your data, and we do not run advertising trackers. This Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have — including under the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA).

1. Information we collect

  • Account data (name, email, neighborhood, ZIP/postal code, skills): to match you with tasks and helpers within your travel range. Your neighborhood is a plain label (e.g. "Hillside") and your ZIP is converted to an approximate area centroid — we do not ask for your street address as part of your profile.
  • Task & project content: titles, descriptions, checklists, and photos you upload to show a job. Stored until the task is cancelled or you delete your account, and served only to people allowed to see that task — never publicly.
  • Session addresses: in-person sessions need a location. We store it encrypted, reveal it only to crew who RSVP'd "Going," log each time it is viewed, and delete it 30 days after the session.
  • Fitness preferences (opt-in only): if you turn on Fitness, we store your activity preferences, travel distance, and availability windows to suggest partners. We never access your precise GPS location. Availability blocks are deleted 7 days after they end.
  • Automatically collected data: your IP address is used transiently to rate-limit abuse and is not linked to your profile. Basic device/browser information may appear in standard server logs.
  • Google sign-in (if used): we receive your email, name, and profile photo from Google. We never receive your password.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

2. How we use your information

  • Operate and improve the Platform and match neighbors for tasks and fitness.
  • Create and secure your account, send the notifications you've opted into, and respond to your requests.
  • Keep the community safe — moderation, abuse prevention, and enforcing our Terms.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. How we share information

  • Other members: the limited profile and task information needed for matching and collaboration (for example, your first name and approximate distance).
  • Service providers: vendors that help us run the Platform — such as hosting, email delivery, and Google sign-in — under confidentiality obligations. We currently use no payment processors or background-check providers.
  • Legal reasons: when required by law or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our members, the public, or us.

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for targeted advertising. Any future sharing of that kind would comply with applicable law, including the CPA.

4. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live (including Colorado under the CPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. You can do most of this yourself, any time, from Settings: export your data, correct your profile, manage notification consent, and delete your account (which removes your personal data and anonymizes your history). You may also email us using the contact below; we will respond within the timelines the law requires.

5. Cookies & tracking

We use a single essential, first-party cookie to keep you signed in securely (an HTTP-only, SameSite=Lax session cookie). We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party analytics, so no cookie-consent banner is required. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, but the Platform may not work properly without the session cookie. If we ever add analytics or other non-essential tracking, we will update this Policy and provide a consent tool before turning it on.

6. Data security & retention

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your data: sensitive data such as addresses is encrypted at rest, traffic is served over HTTPS in production, moderation tools are role-gated, and moderator actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure. We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and several categories (addresses, availability) auto-delete on the schedules described in Section 1.

7. International users

The Platform is hosted in the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, you consent to transferring your information to the U.S., which may have different data-protection laws than your country.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes are posted here with a new "Last updated" date; continued use after a change means you accept it.
